Although the height of Ama Dablam is only 6812 meters, the expedition involves climbing steep ice, rock and snow. You can find three camps during the Ama Dablam expedition above the basecamp. But, you will spend your night in only two of those base camps.

During your climbing expedition, you will follow the South- West ridge to Ama Dablam. The ascent from Ama Dablam base camp to camp 1 is challenging. Climbing Ama Dablam involves severe rock climbing through steep snow and ice runnel.

The routes to Mt. Amadablam expedition  is technically challenging, especially when the route from camp 2 becomes more technical. When is the Best Time to Climb Amadablam Expedition?

Autumn and Spring are the best time for Ama Dablam Expedition. Autumn falls in the month of September, October, and November. Likewise, Spring falls in the month of March, April, and May.

During these seasons, the climbers face less difficulty in comparison to the other seasons. Both the Autumn and spring offer a favorable weather temperature for the climbing expedition. Although it may be chilly in the higher elevation, the lower areas remain warm during autumn and spring.

How Difficult is Amadablam Expedition?

Ama Dablam is one of the most difficult climbing expedition in Nepal. The climbing involves using technical pieces of equipment such as ice axe, ropes, hammers, ascenders, etc.

The climbing expedition becomes challenging as you reach to camp one. From camp one, you will have to take several narrow ridges and climb the snowy rocks. You will see a 15 meters pitch after crossing the camp 2. This pitch is one of the hardest and the most difficult parts of the climb.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)

Day 02: Trip Preparation Day and Sightseeing around Kathmandu.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla then trek to Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft): 40 min flight, 3-4 hours trek

Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft): 5-6 hours

Day 05: Namche Bazaar (3,440 m/11,283 ft): Acclimatization Day

Day 06: Namche Bazaar to Dingboche (4,410 m, 6-7 hrs)

Day 07: Debuche to Pheriche (4,300m/14,107ft): 5-6 hours

Day 08: Acclimatization in Pheriche 

Day 09: Pheriche to Ama Dablam Base Camp (4570m/15000ft): 5-6 hours

Day 10: Acclimatization and Pre-climb training at Ama Dablam Base Camp

Day 11-25: Ascending and Descending of Ama Dablam (6856m/22488ft)

Day 26: Trek to Namche- Lukla

Day 27: Fly back to Kathmandu
