As usual, the adventurous Himalayan journey starts from Kathmandu. As our destination is Mera Peak in the Everest region, we embark early with a thrilling 30 to 35-minute flight to Lukla, the gateway to Everest. This journey shifts you from the occupied and bustling Kathmandu streets to a tranquil mountainous region. Thereafter, we will join a trekking trail and start the journey towards Puyan for an initial overnight stay.

The following day connects the trails of Pangum, Ningsow, and Chhetra Thanga and reaches Kothe on the seventh day, also known as (Mosom Kharka). Similarly, traversing some villages of the Everest Region, like Thangnak and Khare, we trek to Mera La, a high mountain pass at 5,415 meters/17,766 feet. The climb to Mera La is to gradually acclimatize to the environment. Due to its significant height, we will not stay at the Mera La and return to a comparatively low-altitude base camp for a stay.

After a rest day in the Base Camp, ensure proper acclimatization and aim for the Mera Peak high camp at 5,800 meters. The trail forward has steeper slopes, including ice and snow climbs. Once we reach the high camp, following a gradual and steady pace, we make a summit push. Initial sections are more straightforward, and technical parts prevail as the ascent proceeds towards the peak. With basic climbing gear, you can finally reach Mera Peak top. Make a gradual descent after spending celebratory time on the summit. Follow the same route from the foothills of Mera Peak and retrace back to where you started.

In general, it takes around 65 kilometers/40 miles from the trek starting point, Lukla.
